Geotechnischer Ingenieur*in (f/m/d) (Gelsenkirchen, Germany)

Itasca International Inc. is an engineering consulting and software development company specialized in solving complex geomechanical, hydrogeological and microseismic issues in mining, civil, oil & gas, energy and manufacturing. The German office, ICGmbH, which has been established in 1993, is seeking a geotechnical engineer to assists its consulting team. The successful candidate will have a background in engineering mechanics and have a PhD / M.Sc / Dipl. in geosciences, mining or civil engineering. Primary responsibilities will include developing geomechanical numerical models for mining and civil projects such as open pit mining, room and pillar mining, radioactive waste disposal, tunneling and seismic analyses. Experience using Itasca software (in particular FLAC3D / 3DEC) is highly desirable.

Primary Expectations:

  • Perform numerical modeling, analyze results, and communicate results to clients.
  • Communicate with Itasca consultants and external clients to understand needs and help find and develop effective solutions.
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to think creatively and solve problems independently.
  • Be willing and able to take on different responsibilities within a small consulting team, including testing, technical support, training and other non-consulting tasks.
  • Continue professional development.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Successfully completed degree (PhD / M.Sc / Dipl.) in the field of geosciences / mining engineering / civil engineering
  • MS-Office skills and familiarity with IT
  • German and English proficiency
  • Structured, independent and responsible way of working
  • Team-oriented and communicative personality

Other Desirable Skills:

  • Professional experience in the field of mining, foundation engineering or geotechnical engineering or newcomer with passion for the field
  • Experience using the Itasca Software Codes (e.g. FLAC3D, 3DEC)
  • Knowledge and experience of using CAD planning software such as Rhinoceros or AutoCAD
  • Familiarity with VBA, Python and C++
