JointedRock

Description

The JointedRock model is a three dimensional equivalent continuum constitutive model developed for stress - strain analysis of fractured rock masses. The constitutive equations of the equivalent continuum are established for a representative elementary volume (REV) of rock mass based on the principles of continuum mechanics. The mechanical properties of fractures are incorporated in the constitutive equations of the model using the principle of conservation of energy for the work done on the REV. Fractures are in the form of planar joint sets, such as bedding planes, whose spatial configuration is defined by dip/dip direction and spacing in the model. Up to three joint sets of arbitrary orientation can be added to the model.
