Geomechanics & Software Engineer, PFC Product Manager
Mr. Emam has developed numerical models to investigate the relationship between the packing history of granular systems, their geometry and micro-mechanical parameters, and their large-scale mechanical properties (elastic moduli, friction angle, dilatancy, etc.). Mr. Emam is involved in the numerical study of the flow and jamming behavior of dry and cohesive granular media, as well as in the numerical study of excavation damage and slope stability in rock masses. As a software engineer at Itasca, Mr. Emam assists in the development of 3DEC, FLAC3D, PFC2D, and PFC3D. He has directed the development and has been one of the primary developers of PFC version 5.0.
