Itasca Consulting Group is seeking a detail‑oriented, analytical, and collaborative Temporary Business Analyst to support the development of the next major version of our software. This short‑term role is ideal for someone experienced in requirements gathering, user workflow definition, and cross‑team coordination within a technical product environment.

As a Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the upcoming release delivers clear value to our users and aligns with business strategy. You will work closely with product management, software engineers, internal teams, and end users to translate needs into actionable requirements that guide development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Gather input from customers, support, sales, marketing, and engineering teams.
  • Analyze current product gaps, limitations, and new opportunity areas.
  • Write clear functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Develop user stories, workflows, and acceptance criteria to guide development teams.
  • Serve as the liaison between product management, developers, and end users.
  • Facilitate requirement review sessions, workshops, and clarification meetings.
  • Communicate tradeoffs related to scope, timeline, and technical constraints.
  • Assist in defining scope for the upcoming product version or major release.
  • Identify feature dependencies, risk areas, and cross‑module impacts.
  • Support prioritization based on business value, user impact, and feasibility.
  • Ensure delivered features align with documented requirements.
  • Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and validation activities.
  • Trace requirements through design, development, and testing stages to ensure alignment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience as a business analyst.
  • 5+ years business analyst experience in a software or technology‑focused environment.
  • Strong skills in requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Understanding software development, lifecycles and typical constraints.
  • Ability to translate business needs into structured, actionable requirements.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and analytical thinking.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work full-time in our Minneapolis office.

Job Type: This is a short-term temporary position based in our Minneapolis office.

Salary $35–$51 hourly, depending on experience, qualifications, and skill set.
